The Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario will convene
the third annual PhD Sustainability Academy in London, Ontario November 4-9, 2010. Co-sponsored by ARCS, the event includes paper development workshops, seminars, guest speakers, fireside chats, and local trips. Details on the 2008 and 2009 PhD Sustainability Academies are available online.
This year's theme is Markets and Movements for Sustainability, which will explore: the intersection of social movements and market creation for more socially and environmentally responsible products and services; governance and leadership topics that bridge the social and organizational domains; and capabilities for leveraging positive social change.
Dr. Oana Branzei is the Ivey faculty host and organizer. Four prestigious guest faculty will join the event:
Jay Barney, Fisher College of Business, Ohio State University
Tom Lawrence, Simon Fraser University
Wes Sine, The Johnson School, Cornell University
Klaus Weber, Kellogg School of Business, Northwestern University
The deadline for submissions is July 15, 2010. The doctoral student should be the lead author on co-authored manuscript submissions. Submission can follow one of two formats: a full manuscript option (following the AMJ style guide), and an emergent ideas track (an extended abstract format of 3000-6000 words excluding references and exhibits that outlines the research contribution, context, method and preliminary findings).
All submissions will be evaluated through a double-blind review process. The selection committee includes ARCS members and the PhD Sustainability Academy Faculty. The Network for Business Sustainability sponsors a Best Paper Award and a $500 cash prize.
